The 2011-2012 Boardman girls varsity basketball team is comprised of one freshman, eight sophomores, two juniors, and one senior. Lone senior Colleen Baker is returning this year after an injury sidelined her all of last season.
The lack of experienced players showed in the first half as Boardman started out slow on Thursday against Federal League opponent Uniontown Lake. The Spartans were down by 16 points at the half, but a more confident style of play was present in the second half and the ladies were able to shear a few points off the Lake lead to finish their home opener, 60–48.
