• Anthony Grenga of Boardman recently completed his senior year as a member of the men’s soccer team at the University of Mount Union in Alliance. A team captain, Grenga played in 16 games scored one goal for two points and was a vital member of a defense that shut out eight opponents on the season. He also earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference Second Team, Academic All-OAC, and CoSIDA Academic All-District VII honors. A two-time all-conference and three-time academic all-conference selection, Grenga finished his career having played in 54 games with four goals and one assist for nine points. Mount Union finished the season with 10-8-2 and reached the semifinals of the OAC Tournament for the first time in school history.

• Varsity Bowling

Boardman varsity boys (1-0) defeated North Canton Hoover 2,835-2,827 in the opening match of the season on Nov. 29. Boardman was led by Jonathan Tiberio who had games of 252 and 268. Jim Tancabel rolled 227-236.

The next day, Boardman varsity boys (2-0) defeated the Perry Panthers 2,861-2,814 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes in Canton. Boardman was led by freshman Nicholas Tancabel who shot 245 and 225. Jon Tiberio contributed to the Spartan cause with scores of 223 and 219, while Brandon McLain chipped in with a 234 and Jake Wagner with a 222.

The Boardman varsity girls (1-0) defeated the Lady Vikings on Nov. 29 by a score of 2,204-2,144. The Lady Spartans were led by Lindsey Dugan who posted a 207 game, and Becca Babnic who chipped in with a 186.

On Nov. 30 the girls (1-1) fell to the Lady Panthers 2,505-2,201. Scoring leaders for Boardman included Becca Babnic with a 210, Lindsey Dugan with a 190, and Myranda Bukovinsky with a 173.
