The Riverside Cemetery in the Village of Poland have recently collected the 900 American flags from the graves of veterans from all wars and have placed the flags in a field at the intersection of U.S. 224 and Riverside Drive.
This field of flags will be on display for the next several weeks. The flags were donated by the American Legion and placed at each veteran's grave by Boy Scout Troop 44. There are monuments in the Riverside Cemetery for 129 veterans who fought in the Civil War with 39 of these soldiers dying between 1861 and 1865 from battle wounds or disease.
