Vet Day ceremonies planned for Friday

November 10, 2011
By J.T. Whitehouse
Friday is Veterans Day and several ceremonies have been planned to pay tribute to veterans and the contributions and sacrifices they have made.

On Friday at 9:15 a.m., Canfield Village Middle School will host a Veterans Day celebration at the school.

“Our Veterans Day celebration is really amazing and meaningful, said Ron Infante, principal.

The ceremony takes roughly 45 minutes and starts with the posting of colors and ends with the song, “God Bless America.” Several other musical numbers are included as well as poems and reflections by students.

At 6 p.m. that evening, the War Veteran Museum, 23 East Main St., will pay tribute to veterans by hosting a flag-burning ceremony. The public is invited to the event and can see the proper way to dispose of battered and worn American flags. The museum will be open for tours.
