Poland SWUP is burden to everyone

November 7, 2011
The Town Crier
Dear Editor,

On Nov. 8, 2011, the voters of Poland Village will have an opportunity to approve (yes) or reject (no) Ordinance 1391-10, which establishes a Storm Water Utility Program. This SWUP is a new bureaucracy designed by the Poland Village Council to place a heavy financial burden on Poland's businesses, schools and churches. This SWUP will also require that each property owner within the village pay a monthly service charge in addition to their present water, sanitary sewer, gas and electric bills.

Like all other utility bills, the property owners will have no control over how or where their storm water utility dollars will be spent. Nor does the property owner have any guarantee that within a month or a year the storm water service charge will not double or triple in cost.

It is a fact that Poland Village Council has other means at their disposal to correct their storm water system other than establishing another bureaucracy. All responsible citizens are asked to vote "no" to stop this bureaucratic nonsense.
