The Town Crier
A private service was held in Dublin for Betty L. Ruane, 86, formerly of Canfield, who passed away Oct. 1 from a long-term illness.

Mrs. Ruane was born Oct. 31, 1925 in Canton, the daughter of the late William R. and Helen P. Costley.

She married the late Robert H. “Red” Ruane on May 14, 1947 in Youngstown, who passed away May 23, 1992. Betty was a member of Canfield United Methodist Church and belonged to several social clubs in Canfield, including Cantowners, prior to relocating in 2007.

Betty was also a special education class volunteer at Canfield Middle School and a board member of the Silver Lining Fund and Leukemia Society. She dedicated her time to all volunteer work for both charities and for Canfield Middle School.

A loving mother and generous angel, Betty will be terribly missed by her daughter and best friend, Randee (Anthony) Vandoletti of Dublin. She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert “Rob” Ruane and Richard “Rick” Ruane, husband Robert (Red) Ruane, and her three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Leukemia Society or the Silver Lining Fund.
