October 21, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
The Austintown Lions Club held its monthly speaker’s night Oct. 10 with First Vice President Harold Wilson presiding. Serving as guest speaker was former IBC junior middleweight boxing champion, Craig Snyder. Snyder, in his remarks, gave a blow-by-blow description of his career and the ups and downs of boxing in general. In detail he described the many opponents that he met in the ring along with many interesting personal stories starting with his early amateur and Golden Gloves bouts and his career as a pro boxer.

Snyder, who is a resident of Austintown, held his title from 1994 to 1996.  He listed his most important fights as the 10-round decision loss to the famous seven-time world champion Hector “Macho” Camacho and also when he challenged the WBO Continental Americas title with Adrian Dodson from England in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Snyder’s pro career included a record of 22 wins, eight losses and 13 knockouts. Wilson, on behalf of the club presented Snyder with a certificate of appreciation.
