The Austintown girls varsity soccer team fell to Boardman on Saturday morning, but came out winners in the game. The girls, dressed in pink, took on rival Boardman in the annual Volley for a Cure match that brought awareness concerning breast cancer. The girls lost a triple match 17-25, 15-25, and 20-25.
Earlier in the week, the girls fell to Poland after barely losing three of four matches on Oct. 4. Poland took it with games of 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-11. Leading server for the Falcons was Jai’leei Letlow with 11 points and one ace. Leading attacker was Megan Cole with 26 attempts and six kills. Leading setter was Tori Wise with eight assists. Leading defender was Alana Callahan with 30 serve receptions and 23 digs. Leading blocker was Maria Melfe with three blocks.
The JV girls won the night in two games of 25-18 and 25-11.
