Stadium Drive is pretty in pink

October 13, 2011

Stadium Drive Elementary School turned pink on Friday, Oct. 7 as the school held a Cancer Awareness Day. Students not only supported the fight on cancer, but helped raise funds for a local children’s hospital.

“This is the third year we’ve done this,” said Stadium Principal Jim Goske.

As in past years, the staff and students were all asked to wear pink tops to school on Friday. They could also bring in a donation that was collected on Friday morning and will be given to a representative of Akron Children’s Hospital Blood and Cancer Center in Boardman sometime this week.

“We raised $342.40,” Goske reported just before noon.

To further show awareness, the staff and students all received pink armbands to wear. The armbands and shirts were obvious at recess as it looked like a sea of pink across the playground.
