Aqua Ohio, Inc. announced the start of phase I of a major waterline replacement project benefiting customers in Poland Village, Poland Township and the city of Struthers. This project includes the replacement of 2,800 feet of aging 12-inch cast iron water main with new 12-inch ductile iron water main.
Construction will begin this week on Youngstown-Poland Road between Woodward Avenue and Manor Avenue to replace the more than 75-year-old main.
“This project represents an investment of more than $300,000 in our Struthers Division that is part of Aqua’s capital improvement program to proactively upgrade the water system, improve service and increase reliability,” said Aqua Ohio area manager Al Sauline. “When we partnered with our local officials to negotiate rates three years ago, we identified this waterline as a key improvement project to benefit our Poland and Struthers customers.”
The waterline replacement should take approximately two months. During construction, traffic patterns may be temporarily affected as new main is installed. Additionally, a brief service interruption might occur as water service is transferred from the old main to the new main.
