The Fitch volleyball team fell to Canfield on Sept. 27 losing 25-8, 25-8, and 25-15.
Leading server for the Falcons was Gabi Gessler and Taylor Herman with two aces. Leading attacker was Sam Koniowsky with four kills. Leading setter was Tori Wise with eight assists. Leading defender was Alana Callahan with seven digs. The JV girls turned things around and won in two games 25-21, 25-13 over the Canfield team.
On Thursday, the girls took on Niles and won after scoring 25-13, 25-17, and 25-5. Leading server for the Falcons was Wise with 15 aces. Lead attacker was Megan Cole with five kills. Leading setter was Jai’leei Letlow with six assists. Leading defender was Callahan with 10 digs. The JV girls also took the evening winning two, 25-6 and 25-8.
Fitch girls fall 1-4 to a strong Poland team. In singles action, Fitch’s one win was made by Breanna Barto who beat her Bulldog opponent 6-1, 6-4. Other matches included, in singles: Emily Fisher 6-0, 6-0 in favor of Poland and Latrice Nelson 6-3, 6-2 for Poland. In doubles action: Angela Murphy and Ashley Hanuschak fell 6-0, 6-4; and Katie Klepec and Sarah Kupas lost 7-6, 6-0.
• Boys Soccer
The Fitch boys won 3-1 over Niles on Sept. 29 to get back on track after two losses. Scoring for the Falcons were sophomore Nate Bowlen with two, and freshman Tony Mortaro to lead the Falcons to victory. Assists were posted by Jared Bohr, Mike Shaffer, and Ben Gillespie. Nick Sheely was credited with three saves. These two teams meet again this week. Fitch also won the junior varsity match 2-0.
