Township gets low rate for natural gas

September 29, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
Canfield Township officials have announced that they have established a low fixed rate for natural has for members of the township's aggregation program. Residents participating in the Township's natural gas program supplied by Vectren Source will pay a fixed rate of $5.54 per Mcf (Dominion East Ohio customers) and $0.610 per Ccf (Columbia Gas of Ohio customers) for all gas consumed during the months of November 2011 to September 2012.

Township Trustee Tony Bettile said, "We are pleased to have been able to strike this low rate for our residents and businesses. These rates compare very favorably to what resident can obtain on their own at this time. Residents and businesses currently in the program will receive a rate change notice and those newly eligible will receive an opt-out letter from Vectren Source on or around Oct. 14. The newly eligible account holders will be automatically added to the township's program unless they opt out during a 21-day period as stated in the letter."

"We're pleased to continue serving the residents of Canfield Township," said Tami Wilson, president of Vectren Source. We also know this is a busy time of year for residents having to make natural gas choices. Any resident or small business that is currently served by another supplier may seek enrollment in the township's aggregation program by calling Vectren Source at 1-800-608-8510 or responding via fax, mail or internet as directed in the letter they receive. Further, residents served by other suppliers are encouraged to review the terms and conditions of their current supplier agreement before enrolling. New customers to the program must be in good standing and cannot be part of the utility's Percentage of Income Payment Program.

The township asks that questions are not directed to the township offices. They are not equipped to handle a large volume of calls. Residents should contact Vectren source toll free at 1-800-608-8510 if they have any questions.
