The BGMS eighth grade volleyball team defeated Liberty, 25-11 and 25-22. Katie Platt had nine assists, six aces, one kill and one dig. Elli Hritz had five kills and two digs. Krista Johnson had three kills, three digs and one assist. Courtney Platt had four aces, one dig and one assist. Their record is 10-1.
The seventh grade lost to Liberty, 23-25 and 22-25. Charlotte Voytko had four aces and two assists. Katelyn Snyder had three aces. Nicolette Martino had two aces and one dig. Taylor Halowell had two digs and one kill. Their record is now 1-10.
The day before the Liberty match, the team took on Center and came away with a 23-13, 25-18 win. Platt had 11 assists, one ace, one kill and a dig. Johnson posted seven kills, four aces and two digs. Hritz had four kills and a dig.
The seventh grade girls lost to Center 25-17, 15-25, and 23-25. Voytko posted six aces and two assists. Martino had four assists, two aces and a kill. emily Hurl had three kills and two aces. Halowell had four kills and one ace.
The Boardman Glenwood football team improved its record to 4-0 by defeating the previously-undefeated North Catholic Fighting Irish, 14-12. Lynn Bowden capped the first drive of the game with a 25-yard touchdown run, along with a Devin Curd two-point conversion. The offense struck again just before halftime when Bowden powered his way for a six-yard touchdown run. In the second half, the BGMS defense shut down the high powered North Catholic offense led by key plays from a touchdown-halting tackle by Jonathan Thompson and game-ending interception by Brandon Fuese. Despite turning the ball over four times, including a fumble at the North Catholic two-yard line, BGMS was able to keep its unbeaten record intact.
