September 15, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
The Boardman Spartans Marching Band hosted band night on Sept. 10 to a near sell-out crowd. Guest bands included West Branch Warrior Marching Band, Springfield Marching band, Lowellville Rocket Marching band and the East Palestine High School Marching Band.

The Spartans Marching Band is under the direction of Thomas M. Ruggieri, with associate directors Timothy Tuite, Steven Chambers, Michael Shevock and auxiliary instructors Jamie Cordon, Niki Dispenza, Janet Gbur and Frank Dispenza. The group started the night off with "pregame" performing "Script Ohio" with senior Jaime VandenBosch dotting the "I".

The Spartans band played last on the evening, performing medleys from the Beatles and KC and the Sunshine Band. Senior Zack Stover was featured singing Michael Buble's version of "Sway," while senior Joey Amadio was also featured playing the auxiliary percussion.

The crowd gave the BSMB a standing ovation for the nights closure tune, "The Lion King." Featured were Seniors Gianna Marinucci and Rachael Ruggieri.

Boardman Band & Orchestra parent Rae Clones coordinated the event, with many other band parents helping out.
