The Veterans Log Cabin at the Canfield Fairgrounds is the centerpoint for military displays including modern vehicles, Civil War re-enactors and every Mahoning County veterans' service organization, so it is not unusual to find veterans hanging out there. In a rare opportunity, four veterans were talking on the cabin’s porch and the small group represented four branches of service that included veteran Marine Willie Lewis of Austintown, Army veteran John Solomon of Brookfield, Air Force veteran Jim Carano of Boardman, and Navy veteran Doug Babyak of Howland. The men are all members of the group called Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
