Area twins participate in ‘Twins Day’ event

September 4, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
Recently, the local twins Rose Pacalo and Sr. Charlotte Italiano participated in the annual Twins Days in Twinsburg, the largest annual gathering of twins in the world. This was the fifth annual event for the Boardman-Poland pair. Each year the event has a different theme. Some of the themes in the past have included the '50s, sports, and western. This year was a circus them and the many sets of twins present dressed accordingly.

There were some 1,700 sets of twins attending the event, along with multiples and quads ranging in ages from less than a month old to seniors. Rose and Charlotte dressed the part for this year’s circus theme. Rose was a cheetah and Charlotte was an animal trainer.

“It’s fabulous and it’s a great way to see twins and multiples. People are so friendly you want to go back,” said Rose. The Youngstown area sisters posed for pictures with many different sets of twins, all dressed appropriately for the event. “It’s a happy time, it’s a fun time,” said Rose.

The "look alike" twins -- as the identical, similarly dressed twins are referred to -- had their photo from last year's event featured in this year's program. Each year, a picture of all the twins present is taken from a camera atop a mechanical ladder.
