Poland’s boys golf team is busy this week perfecting their skills for the start of seasonal play and a little different venue. This year’s home matches will be at Knoll Run Golf Course in Lowellville. Because the distance and transportation costs to and from Copeland Golf Course in Columbiana, Athletic Director Brian Banfield was forced to make the necessary cost-cutting decisions for the move. Knoll Run Golf Course owners, Marucci and Gaffney Excavating of Youngstown are managed by Jenny Gaffney who is a 1997 graduate of Poland High School. Golf coach Dave DiGiacomo said, "The golf course grounds here are kept well. I feel comfortable to have our kids compete here.”
