Glaciers win national championship

The Ohio Glaciers 16-and-under traveling baseball team located in Struthers, traveled to Northville, Michigan July 27 through 31, to compete against teams from across the United States and Canada in the National Amateur Baseball Federation Junior World Series. The team's 3-1 World Series victory came upon their defeat of the Bloomington Normal Baseball Club from Bloomington, Ill. The Glaciers’ team is composed of players from Boardman, Canfield, Howland, Southeast, Ursuline, McDonald, and New Castle. Derek Turocy of Canfield was named tournament MVP. Chris Maze of Howland and Mike Raschilla of McDonald were named to the all-tournament team. The team is managed by Matt Weymer and coached by Bob Beam and Marc Jakubovic.
