July 28, 2011
The Town Crier
Youngstown Tri T Palomino lost their opening round sectional tournament game in Butler, Pa., to Hampton 12-2 in seven innings. Youngstown stranded 11 runners on base including leaving the bases loaded twice, contributing to their loss.

A strong first inning by Hampton shut down the locals as they put up four runs, two of them on batters being hit. A two-run homer added the final two runs ending the scoring.

Youngstown did answer back in the second inning when Joe Cavalier of Girard walked before Nick Poore of East advanced him on a fielder's choice sending him home. Alec Neapolitan of Boardman came on in relief in the second inning cooling the Hampton bats some but their opponents were still able to plate one or two runs each inning on some misplayed balls.

Youngstown did score again in the third inning when Brian Beverly of East Liverpool doubled, one of three in a row for Youngstown, and Neapolitan doubled him home.

Neapolitan ended up going the distance giving up seven hits while recording a pair of strikeouts. David Steckle had the mound win for Hampton and Garrett La Pina of East Liverpool got the loss for Youngstown in one inning of action.

Brian Beverly of East Liverpool went two-of-three at the plate with a double, run and stolen base while Neapolitan was one of two with a double.
