Hometown winners

The Boardman Community Baseball 11-year-old all-star team swept the annual Chuck Schafer Scholarship Tournament over the weekend, going undefeated in six games to win the title. The team beat Austintown in the final game, 8-3. Team members include, kneeling, Michael Melewski, Dante Beato, Dominic Stilliana; in middle, Evan Knaus, Jarod Wilson, Michael Cunningham, Bryan Kordupel, Noah Falleti, Luciano Cardillo, Sean Buck, Bobby Toth and Dominic Pecchia; in back are coaches Joe Cunningham, Tony Stilliana, manager Ted Melewski, and coach Jeff Wilson.

Boardman Community Baseball's 10-year-old all star team clubbed Canfield 14-7 in the final game of the Chuck Schafer Scholarship Tournament, winning the 9- and 10-year-old division. The team which went undefeated in the tournament, includes, in front row: Cameron Burford, Jake Fonderlin, Alex Cardona, Travis Harvey, Dylan Gurski and Devin Whitaker; in middle row, Nick Yallich, Michael O'Horo, Cameron Kreps, Troy Waliszewski and Shay Eicher. In back are coaches Brian Fonderlin, Pat O'Horo, Tom Harvey and manager Rob Eicher.
