The Greater Youngstown Track Officials honored outstanding track and cross country athletes June 14th at the Salem Community Center in the 22nd annual GYTOA Athlete of The Year Awards Dinner. Award winners included Katie Heney of Boardman High School in cross country, and Cardinal Mooney's Nevin Lesnoski in cross country.
In addition to the athletes honored, Jack Betts was honored for 20 years of service as an official as well as Liz Tomory and Ted Marroulis, who were each awarded for 15 years. Lou Brown, a longtime official and former coach, was awarded the "Fred Dafler Sportsmanship Award for his dedication to the sports of track and cross country as well as his accomplishments in officiating."
