An art show comprised of more than 70 paintings by residents of area assisted living and nursing homes will be held at The Davis Family YMCA in Boardman with the opening reception to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 26. The event is free and open to the public.
While many of the artists in the Painting Clubs are healthy, vibrant seniors, most suffer from challenges such as Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, dementia, stroke, macular degeneration, and other dibilitating conditions. Even so, they are able to create beautiful works of art that the Y will showcase.
Well-known artist Christopher Leeper was the juror for the exhibition. After selecting the ribbon winners, Leeper said, “The physicality and joy of putting brush to paper are evident in these works.”
The show will run from June 26 through July 26. For more information, please contact Suzanne Gray at 330-480-5656.
