June 13, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
The Mahoning Valley Heat 13-and-under traveling baseball team is picking up where it has left off in its last three years of a winning tradition. The MV Heat most recently won the Boys of Summer Memorial Day Classic in Akron. In the tournament semifinal, the Heat shut out the Jackson Bears Gold 16-0, and then defeated the Stow Outlaws 7-6 in the championship game.

Earlier in the year, the MV Heat was a finalist in the Ohio Eagles Spring Round Up. The Heat was undefeated in pool play posting wins over teams including the PA Red Hawks, 7-6; Northeast Ohio Thunder, 5-3; and the Ohio Glaciers Blue, 15-3.

The MV Heat is also in first place in the Stark Summit Baseball League’s North American Division. The MV Heat has won the SSBL in two of its last three entries.

The MV Heat has qualified and will be returning to participate in the Ohio State Championship tournaments in Dublin, Ohio later this month.
