Ursuline sister promoted

Sister Mary McCormick, an Ursuline Sister of Youngstown, has been awarded the faculty rank of professor by St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in the Diocese of Cleveland.

Sister Mary has been a member of the St. Mary Seminary faculty since 1997, first as an instructor, then assistant professor, followed by associate professor. She teaches Systematic Theology.

Sister Mary earned her bachelor of science in education from Youngstown State University in 1978, a master of arts in theology from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, in 1987, a master of religious education from Loyola University, New Orleans, 1991, and a doctorate in Systematic Theology from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, in 2001.

Previous to her career in higher education, Sister Mary taught in secondary and parish education for more than a decade.

Sister Mary also has been involved in administration with her community for many years, and has served on the leadership team for the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown for nine years. She has been an Ursuline Sister of Youngstown since 1975. Sister Mary also is a graduate of Ursuline High School.
