Relay For Life of Poland caters to moms

May 5, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
Mothers put others — children, spouse, friends and co-workers — first, and themselves last.

This year, shop for mom and help the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Poland at a Trash and Treasure Sale.

Relay For Life of Poland will have a Trash and Treasure Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 7 at the Poland Masonic Lodge, 7685 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road in Poland. Come spend some time browsing items with your mom — and maybe even find a gift for her, too.

Relay For Life of Poland will be July 8-9 at Poland Seminary High School. Relay For Life mobilizes the community to celebrate those who have battled cancer, to remember loved ones lost and to fight back against cancer.

Relay For Life of Poland also will have a benefit from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 19 at TGI Friday’s, 7165 Tiffany Blvd. in Boardman. Anyone who brings in a voucher will have 20 percent of their bill donated to the American Cancer Society. The voucher is available online at RelayforLife.org/Poland in the “Local Fundraisers” section.

Both the Trash and Treasure Sale and the charity dinner will raise money for the American Cancer Society, which has created programs targeted to women such as “Choose You.”

Choose You is a movement that encourages women to put their own health first in the fight against cancer. It challenges women to make healthier choices and supports them in their commitment to eat right, get active, quit smoking and get regular health checks.
