April 25, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
The Mahoning County Medical Alliance and Society held a joint dinner meeting April 8 at Michael Alberini's Restaurant in Boardman. During the meeting, the Alliance named Tricia Potesta its “Gem of the Year.” The award is presented annually to a member that serves both the organization and community with distinction.

Potesta is a graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Findlay College and Youngstown State University. She is retired from American Airlines, where she served as a flight attendant for 20 years.

Potesta has been an active member of the Alliance since 2002 and was president of the organization for 2007-2008. She served on many committees with the Alliance, most recently chairing the Annual Fashion Show auction that benefitted the Akron Children's Hospital of Mahoning Valley’s Garden of Hope. Potesta has served on the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Community Advisory Board for the last eight years and has been active with the American Heart Association Heart Ball, serving the last two years as chairperson. Potesta is also a member of the Akron Children's Hospital Kids Crew and was the secretary for the Canfield Republican Women's Club for two years.

She and her husband, Dr. Gene Potesta, live in Canfield with their children, Drew and Anthony.
