Pitcher signs with Walsh University

March 30, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
On March 24, in the Canfield High School athletic foyer, senior Jared Bettura announced his intention to attend Walsh University and play baseball for the Cavaliers. Coach Tim Mead welcomed Bettura to the Cavalier team with family members, coaches and a strong showing of the student body in attendance.

At Canfield High School, Bettura will be a two-year varsity letter winner in baseball, playing primarily as a pitcher. His contributions on the mound for the Cards helped propel them to an overall record of 19-8, their seventh consecutive conference title and a District runner-up showing in 2010.

Bettura also plays baseball during the summer months, including most recently for the local Ohio Glaciers, and he has committed to playing for the Class "B" League's Roth Brothers squad this season.

Bettura is also a varsity letter-winner at CHS in basketball and soccer. He also has a 3.57 GPA and stands 66th in a class of 286. He is the son of Joe and Sharon Bettura.
