Hockey season put on ice after award ceremony

March 17, 2011
The Town Crier
The Canfield varsity and developmental hockey teams celebrated their fine seasons with an awards banquet March 1 at St. Michael's Church.

Developmental coach Steve Denney stressed to the young players that he was proud that such a large group of all Canfield students had worked hard to gain achievements and improvements over the last season. Varsity head coach Randy Emery impressed upon his young athletes that hard work, and toughness will go a long way in life.

A dinner was prepared and served with the help of family volunteers including Hockey Board President Barry Tancer and his wife Shelly.  Vice President Tim Cole, Treasurer Cindy Geiser, and Secretary Bob Scheetz were also recognized for their hard work this season.

Varsity award winners included: Rookie of the Year, Dylan Williams; Best Defensman, Joe Geiser; Coach's Award, Nick Carney; Offensive Player of the Year, Riley Emery; and MVP, Riley Emery.
