Hospital receives $10,000 grant

March 15, 2011
Special to the Town Crier
Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley has been awarded a grant of $10,000 from The J. Ford Crandall Memorial Foundation to help fund renovation costs associated with the opening of the pediatric surgery center, which is located on the Beeghly Campus in Boardman.

In recognition of the donation, the family consultation room located within the surgical services area will be named for the J. Ford Crandall Memorial Foundation.

The completely renovated 14,000-square-foot facility provides modern surgical suites, a sterile processing center, and an eight-bed post-anesthesia care unit. The surgical team includes pediatric anesthesiologists, specialty surgeons, nurses, surgical technicians and a child life specialist, all of whom understand the unique medical needs and concerns of children and their families. Akron Children’s Hospital performs more pediatric surgeries than any other hospital in northeast Ohio.
