Lady Lions end season as champs

The St Charles eighth grade Lady Lions completed a stellar season finishing with a 13-4 record, and winning the MTCC Division 1 championship. The Lady Lions beat the undefeated St. Christine eighth-grade Lady Crusaders 29-20 in the championship game held at Mooney High School on Feb. 27. The Lady Lions put together an outstanding defensive performance holding the high-scoring Crusaders to a 14 percent shooting percentage from the floor, limiting the Lady Crusaders to only eight shots from the foul line, and converting 14 steals. MacKenzie Kuchmaner lead the Lady Lions with 15 points, shooting 33 percent from the floor and going nine of 10 from the foul line, while Nicole Webber scored eight points playing on a severely sprained ankle. Brooke Overly contributed four points and Toni Chahine contributed two points. During the regular season the Lady Lions average margin of victory was 17 points. The St. Charles eighth-grade Lady Lions have won the MTCC Division Championships the past three years.
