• BGMS seventh grade boys basketball

The Boardman Glenwood boys seventh-grade basketball team are now 7-7 after losing a close game to Howland on Feb. 10, 57-41. Jamison Lytle and Preston Stitt led the Spartans in scoring with 10 points each. Andrew Wagner contibuted six points to the effort. Coming into the game, the boys were coming off a 29-18 win over Campbell that saw Kelan Millerleile contribute 11 points and Gavin Dill, eight. John Thompson and Lytle both contributed great defense and offense hustling.

• BGMS eighth grade boys basketball

The BGMS boys eighth-grade basketball team fell to a strong Howland team on Feb. 10 by a score of 44-35. Offense was led by Benji Roberts with 12 points and Juan Santiago and Marcus Smith who each contributed eight, Like their seventh grade counterparts, the eighth graders were coming off a 32-30 win over Campbell with Preston Wehr leading the scoring with 13. Darnell Walton, Roberts and Aaron Thompkins each scored six on the night.

• BGMS seventh grade girls basketball

BGMS seventh-grade girls finished their regular season with a strong 27-8 win over Howland. Leading the scoring drive was Natalie Wilson with 16 points. Krista Johnson added nine and Bailey Brandt shot for two. Solid defense was displayed by Taylor Broll, Jessica Fowler, Marisa Hanna, Ely Larrier, Katie Platt and Rickasia Wallace. The effort improved the team to 13-1, which followed a victory over Campbell, 24-8.

• BGMS eighth grade girls basketball

The BGMS eighth grade girls basketball team fell to 9-5 on the season after a 26-22 loss to Hopwland on Feb. 10. Amanda Lipke posted 10 points, Jessica Fox had four, Amanda Moss and Breanna Crenshaw each posted three, and Alison Green scored two. Chaise Perez and Regan O’Hara were noted for their strong defense in the game.

• Boardman Tennis Club Winter Junior Team

Blue got swept in the final half-sets of tennis action on Feb. 6 after losing 6-4 to Orange in Junior Tennis Tier 1 action. They are now tied for first with Red, who bombed Gold 8.5-1.5. Other action saw Silver tied White. Tier 1 MVP was Dyana Zeidenstien whose wins helped White hold it’s tie. Honorable mention went to Rebecca Jeren.

In Tier 2 action, Light Blue edged Black 7-6.5 to hold on to first place. Light Blue’s Courtney Kocis was named Tier 2 MVP and honorable mentions went to Alexandria Huffman and Audrey Schweers. In other Tier 2 action, Dark Green beat Gray, anmd Maroon defeated Ruby.
