Poland boys competed in the 200 yard medley relay and came in second place with a time of 2:22.63 against Louisville Dec. 16 at Youngstown State University. Sam Cowles of Poland was the third leg of four when he dove into the water only to break his goggles. Cowles said, “I can’t believe this is happening,” as he continued in the relay, finishing at 37:22.
Chloe Queen of Poland participates in the girls 400 yard relay with a time of 33.98 and a team time of 1:14.24 as the Bulldogs fall short by a score of 102-72 to Louisville in the overall meet that was held at Youngstown State University last Thursday, Dec. 16. In the past, Queen competed in the 500 yard race because of an injury she had in relays.
Competing in the individual 100 yard breaststroke for Poland, senior captain Ian Harker took first place with a time of 109.01. Harker hopes to top his best time from last year of 106.96.
Coming out in lane two on the starting block, Jake 'the Snake' Amon was unhappy with his time of 34.00 in the relay. With teammates Matt Robich, Sam Cowles, Kyle Kirin, the team time for the event was 2:22.63, which gave them second place. The boys swim team loss 115-40 to Louisville. Despite the loss, the team is looking forward to a better performance in the swim meets to come.
