Shields defeated Brookfield’s Jordan Thompson by a pin with 23 seconds remaining in the third period. Duran defeated Shane Howls with 47 seconds remaining in the second period. Audi took the decision over Bill Barr, 10-5. Other Bulldog contributors to the victory include Joel Miller, Jordan Ziegler, Edwin Figueroa, Bob Bricker and Max Prizant.
The Bulldogs fell short against Girard. Shields scored a technical fall 17-1 over Girard’s Jake Bohr. Duran took the decision over Zane Chase 5-1, Audi pinned Steve Ravenstenic in 2:20. Max Prizant lost a hard-fought decision over Nick Cardiero at 4-0 as did Bricker over Matt Marsha with a 5-1 decision.
Concerning the opening tri-match, coach Tony Stellato said, "We bumped each of our kids up a weight class. Our kids handled this very well. Wrestling up is not an easy thing to do. We will be a totally different team once we get our guys into the best weight class that suits them.”
