According to Poland girls golf coach Judy Young, last year senior Angela Molaskey signed with YSU. Next fall, Allison will join her teammate on the YSU team as she attends on a full scholarship.
Allison began her golf career at age seven. She used to go out with her father and grandfather, Lee Sandstrom, and golf just for fun.
“She really didn’t get serious about golf until high school,” said her mother, Lori.
Once she did get serious, there was no stopping her. She was on the 2008 state championship team, was runner-up at state for two years placed fifth in the state individually and was named to the all-state team. In her sophomore year she was 17th in the state and 13th in her junior year.
“She is my first all-stater,” said Poland girls golf coach Judy Young. “She has been in the top 20 every year we have went to state. She is persistent and creative on the course.”
Allison said she will be looking to major in a business field while continuing to perfect her game. For Young, she said it has been a great two years sending two outstanding golfers to YSU.
