MCDD swimmers succeed at meet

On Oct. 23, six swimmers from the Mahoning County Developmental Disabilities Special Olympics competed at the Kelly Jo Carlson Memorial Swim Meet held at the Warren Harding High School Natatorium. In their individual heats for the 25-meter freestyle, Jami Crook took second place, Jennifer Markovich took third place, Justin Durkin took second place and Mike Grasso took first place. Again in their individual heats for the 25-meter backstroke, Markovich took fourth place and Mike Grasso took second place.

In the 50-meter freestyle, Crook took fourth place abnd Durkin took third place. In the same heat, Paul Adomovich took first place and Neil Gruber took second place and again in the same heat for the 50-meter backstroke, Adomovich took third place and Gruber took fourth place. 

The 100-meter relay team finished in second place with Adomovich swimming the first leg, followed by Durkin then Mike Grasso swimming the third leg and Gruber swimming the last lap.

All the athletes had a great time and enjoyed the comradery as well as the competition. The team is under the direction of swim coach David Grossman who was assisted by Fran Anderson and Jennifer Dundee.
