Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Marian Louise Dorcas, who passed away Monday morning at Hospice House.
Marian was born Jan. 16, 1923 in Coalburg, a daughter of the late James and Sallie J. (Lobb) McGowen.
A graduate of Boardman High School, she retired in 1985, after 29 years in sales at JCPenney and Almart. She also worked as a secretary at Cutler Hammer.
Marian was a member of the Canfield Methodist Church, a 60-year member of the Eastern Star Miriam Chapter #278, Ruth Shrine #64 Order of White Shrine and the Supreme Caldron.
Her husband, Robert E. Dorcas, whom she married Oct. 7, 1940, passed away on May 29, 2005.
Marian is survived by a son, William R. (Amy) Dorcas of Canfield; three grandchildren, William R. (Sandy) Dorcas Jr., Marilyn Blasko and Stephany (Jeff) Stewart; and seven great-grandchildren: Kathryn Dorcas, Carlyn Dorcas, Logan Dorcas, Justin Blasko, Joshua Blasko, Madison Stewart and Sydney Stewart.
Besides her parents and husband, Marian is preceded in death by a daughter, Lynne Dorcas, a sister, Jean Grove, and five brothers: Donald, Keith, Glendon, Stanley, and Edwin McGowen.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
