Poland’s golfers had a busy shedule last week. On Tuesday, the Poland girls golf team defeated Canfield at Diamondback to go 5-0 in AAC White Tier. The final score was Poland, 170 to Canfield, 182. Medalist Allison Mitzel shot a 36; Maria Mancini, 38; Giana DiBenedetto, 45; and Christine Bilas, 51.
On Wednesday, the action continued as the Poland girls competed on the Mill Creek South Course by taking on Niles. Poland took the challenge with a score of 163 compared to Niles at 213. Bulldog scorers included Mitzel with 36; Mancini, 37; DiBenedetto, 41; Rachel Sines, 49; Bilas and Natalie Rivello at 50 each. The win improved Poland’s standing to 6-0.
This past Monday, the girls confirmed their regular season 6-0 AAC Red Tier championship by taking scoring honors at Tamer Win Golf Course at the League's 18 Hole AAC Girls Golf Tournament. Poland came out on top with a team score of 343. In second place was rival Canfield with 368, followed by Niles at 429 and Howland at 434. Tournament medalists from Poland included Mancini at 73 and Mitzel runner-up with an 81. DiBenedetto posted a 91 and Melinda Hannon a 98. Bilas shot a 99, just missing the scoring count for the 18-hole tournament.
