• Varsity Soccer
The Fitch boys soccer team won 3-2 over Howland last week. The Falcons were leading 2-1 at half, and were up 3-1 late in the second half when Howland’s Connor Gilmour scored a free kick from about 20 yards away. Scoring for Fitch was Nate Bowlen with two goals and Keanu Shelton with one goal. Shelton is also credited with an assist as were Trevor Yacovone and Ken Kilpatrick. Chris Platton turned in 10 saves.
• Fitch volleyball
The Fitch volleyball team took the match over Mooney last week after they defeated the Cardinal girls 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, and 25-21. Leading server for Fitch was Julie Martinelli with a total of 19 points and five aces. Leading attacker was Kacie Roche with 15 attempts and 11 kills. Leading setter was Britney Weidenthal with 33 attampts and 31 assists. Leading defender was Amanda Callahan, who posted 18 digs. Lead blocking went to Julie Martinelli.
The Fitch JV team went 25-11, 27-25 to take the win with Kayla Cyphert posting three aces, Gabi Gessler with three kills, Alana Callahan with seven digs, and Alexa Lynn with two blocks.
Later in the week, the varsity girls fell to Massilon Jackson 25-17, 25-10, and 25-10. Weidenthal had a total of nine points and one ace with 18 assists; Roche posted six kills with nine attempts; Callahan was lead defender with 16 serve receptions and 10 digs; and Martinelli was leading blocker with two.
Thegirls are now 2-5 overall and 0-4 in league play.
The Fitch girls tennis team took all five to beat Warren Harding last week. Winning singles matches were Allie Macioge 7-6, 6-4; Sarah Ragan 6-1, 6-0 and Angela Murphy 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, the team of Kellie Wenick and Nikki Wenick shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0 and the team of Caitlin Shridan and Victoria Phelps did likewise. The Fitch girls tennis team is now 5-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.
