• Volleyball


The Austintown Fitch varsity volleyball team took a loss to GlenOak on Wednesday in four games that saw scores of 25-23, 23-25, 16-25, and 16-25. The leading hitter was Sarah Hoelzel with 22 hits and seven kills. Julie Martinelli was credited with two blocks; Britney Weidenthal had 22 assists; Julie Martinelli posted four aces; and Sarah Hoelzel and Kacie Roche each had 13 digs.


The JV girls won their contest with games of 25-20 and 25-20 over GlenOak. The leading hitter was Alexa Lynn with 11 hits and four kills. Jen Mound put up two blocks; Tori Wise had six assists; Jamie Matune, Jaileei Letlow, and Maria Melfe each had an ace and Alexa Lynn posted two; and Kayla Cyphert was credited with 11 points.


•  Tennis


Fitch girls tennis team took a 4-1 win over Canton McKinley last week to improve to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in league play. In singles, Sarah Ragan and Amber Kovachtook a decisive win while the teams of Nikki Wenick and Kellie Wenick, and the team of Caitlin Sheridan and Victoria Phelps each took their sets allowing opponents only one or no points.
