The Mahoning Valley Heat travel organization was the 10-and-under Nations Eastern Champions with a 16-2 record. They won in the league in their first year of play.
The 10u team, managed by Sam Dye, also was the champions of the Twinsburg baseball tournament in July. This same team advanced to the quarterfinal in the State Championship tournament in Columbus earlier this summer.
The 12-and-under Mahoning Valley Heat team, managed by Tim Kelty, also had a very successful year. Among their accolades includes being a finalist in the Top Gun Fourth of July National Qualifier Tournament for the Nations Baseball League. The Mahoning Valley Heat 12u team was unbeaten and unscored upon in pool play. The team also advanced to the Nations Ohio State Tournament Medal Round and reached the final day of that tournament. They posted a 4-1 record in that state tournament and were, again, undefeated in pool play. The team also holds victories, over, among others, this year's state champion, Jackson Bears Purple.
The 12u team was composed primarily of players from the former Mahoning Valley Bluejays team, which also won the Stark-Summit Baseball League 11-and-under championship last year with a perfect 20-0 record.
