Gymnasts from The Ohio Gymnastics Institute in Austintown competed over the July Fourth weekend at the 2010 Amatuer Athletic Union Age Group National Championships in Orlando, Fla. Two gymnasts brought home medals for their efforts.
Stefani Christy of Austintown brought home the silver medal in uneven parallel bars for the Level 4, 10-year-old age group at the event. She finished in sixth place in floor excercise and vault for an overall score of 35.8 to place 10th.
Teammate Nicole Dobrilovic of North Jackson brought home the bronze in the uneven parallel bar and placed tenth in vault, sixth in balance beam and fourth in floor exercise to take an overall finish of fifth with 36.725 points. Dobrilovic competes in Level Intermediate Optional, 12-year-old group 2.
Also competing at the nationals was Kasey Solic of Austintown. She finished sixth in vault, fourth in uneven parallel bars, fourth in balance beam and fourth in floor excercise for an overall finish of fourth with 24.100. Solic competes in Level 6, 10-year-old group.
The three local gymnasts were part of the more than 1,500 athletes from across the United States who traveled to Disney World in Florida for the competition.
