Eljean V. Riffle, 87, of North Lima, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman following a long illness. Eljean was born May 11, 1923 in Batesville, Ind., the daughter of the late Raymond and Leona S. (Shore) Tanner.

Mrs. Riffle owned and operated Orthopedic Appliance Company of Youngstown with her husband Oscar. She also worked as a secretary for Dr. McGregor in the 1980s. Eljean was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a member and officer of Youngstown Mothers of Twins Club, and a member of the state organization as well as a national officer. 

Eljean was preceded in death on Nov. 7, 1992 by her husband, Oscar L. Riffle, whom she married Jan 13, 1940. She is also survived by three daughters, Sandra (Richard) Evans of North Lima, Cathy (Eric) Sellers of Evans City, Pa., and Carol Charniga of Troy, N.Y.; two sons, Gary L. (Pauline) of Bogata, Texas, and Richard (Debbie) Riffle of Troutman, N.C.; plus 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Riffle was preceded in death by her son, John Riffle.

A funeral service was held June 26 at Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima with Rev. Gary Rinker officiating, followed by burial at Paradise United Church of Christ Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the church building fund.
