New Year’s ceremony unites Ficke, Mason

Lisa Ficke, a daughter of Greg and Carol Ficke of Mason, and Brent Barkett, a son of John and Georgia Barkett Boardman, exchanged wedding vows on Dec. 31, 2009 at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Mason.

The Rev. Tony Tozzi officiated at the 6 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Manor House in Mason. Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, the couple resides in Cincinnati.

The bride's designer A-line gown of white satin and silk featured a V-neck off-the-shoulder neckline and was embellished with beading. She held a bouquet of white and red roses.

Lindsay Ficke, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids included Angela Blust, Jennifer Freson, Emily Genevich, Andrea Hyden, Kate Rutledge and Lauren Schneider. They wore V-neckline black matte A-line taffeta gowns.

Jason Despetorich served as best man. The groomsmen were Scott Barkett, Sean Corcoran, Matt Gambrel, Wade Hurley, Matt Klouse, Larry Jones and Bob Patrick.

The bride graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Richmond, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She earned her Ph.D. in medicinal and biological chemistry from the University of Toledo. She is a project leader for Kendle International, Inc., in Cincinnati.

Mr. Barkett graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Toledo, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He is employed as a sales representative for OhioCat. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and received commendation for his participation in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
