St. James Meeting House in Boardman Park was the setting for the Oct. 17, 2009, wedding of Paul Gerhardstein and the former Erin Carvell, both of Canfield. Ryan Rotuna officiated at the wedding, which joined the daughter of Merv and Michele Carvell of Poland, and the son of Mark and Marlene Gerhardstein of Canfield. Friends of the bride, Jessica and Amy Dutko of Boardman, provided flute and clarinet music during the wedding. David Dutko, also of Boardman, performed ushering duties at the ceremony.

A reception was held in their honor that evening at The Byzantine Center at The Grove in Youngstown. After the wedding, the couple left for a honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The bride wore an Ilissa by Demetrios wedding gown featuring a strapless neckline adorned with a band of crystals, sequins, beads and rhinestones. The white silk-satin gown had a gathered bottom and chapel-length train. The bride wore her sister's cathedral-length veil, adorned with pearls and crystals, as well as a fingertip veil with a thing pencil edging. She also wore a sequined and rhinestone tiara that was a gift from her grandmother. She carried a bouquet, created by the bride's aunt and godmother, that featured a collection of green and orange calla lilies and hydrangea.

Nicole Hagerty of Boardman, the bride's sister, was the matron of honor. Her bridesmaids were Amy Gerhardstein of Canfield and Christina Gerhardstein of Streetsboro, both sisters of the groom, and Lacey Hospodar of North Lima and Michelle Elton of Youngstown, both friends of the bride. They wore green tea-length bubble-hemmed gowns that featured an ivory waistband and a rhinestone brooch. The flower girl was Hannah Hagerty of Boardman, niece and goddaughter of the bride. She wore a green gown that featured an orange sash and threw from a bouquet of leaves.

Serving as best man was Brian Jones of Willoughby, friend of the groom. The groomsmen included Chris Carvell of Poland, brother of the bride, and Harley Hall of Canfield, Chris Anthony of Canfield and Dave Lewis of Savannah, Ga., all friends of the groom. JJ Hagerty of Boardman, nephew and godson of the bride, was the ring bearer. They all wore chocolate brown tuxedos with green and orange vests and ties.

A first-grade teacher in the Brookfield Local School District, the bride earned her degree in early childhood education for Youngstown State University. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in reading education from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She is also a varsity volleyball coach at Ursuline High School in Youngstown.

Her husband graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in electrical and computer engineering and is a programming engineer with IES Systems, Inc. in Canfield. He is also pursuing a master's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Akron.

They have made their home in Canfield.
