Four Austintown Middle School student athletes, along with one alternate qualified for the Ohio Junior High State wrestling tournament to be held March 20 and 21 in Marion. All wrestlers qualified by placing at the Steubenville District wrestling tournament.
At 78 pounds, sixth-grader Alex Mackall with a record of 54-5 recently placed third at the Ohio youth wrestling state championships and finished third at the Junior High District qualifier.
Luke Peterson, a 132-pound eighth-grader, goes to state with a 34-4 record with a recent second place finish at the Federal League tournament, first place finish at EOWL, and a second place finish at the district tournament.

At 154 pounds Camran Rezapourian, an eighth-grader, goes to state with a 37-1 record. Camran finished first place at Federal League tournament, EOWL, and districts. He is looking forward to making the state championship for his fourth time.
Also in the eighth grade, Tony Behanna at 164 pounds finished his season at 35-5. Tony placed second at the Federal League Tournament, first at EOWL, and sixth at the district tournament.
Qualifying for state as an alternate is eighth-grader Taylor Balog. Taylor, 146 pounds, has a 31-11 record and placed fourth at the Federal League tournament, fifth at EOWL, and seventh at the district tournament.
