Margaret S. Sympson, 86, of Youngstown, passed away the morning of Sunday, Feb. 8, 2010 at Ron Joy Nursing Center. She was born Feb. 26, 1923 to Vincent and Christina Chiarello.
During World War II she worked for the government in Cincinnati and was a homemaker and avid bowler most of her life. She loved watching sports, especially baseball, and gardening was her passion. She was known throughout her neighborhood for her beautiful "rock garden."
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Sympson, who died March 15, 1992; her brothers Ross, Anthony, Paul and Frank Chiarello and sisters Virginia Phillips and Roseanne Scenna.
Survivors include one brother, Joseph (Marie) Chiarello; five children, Della Jean Cox of Boardman, Terry Sympson and Gary Sympson, of Jackson Hill, Texas, attorney Richard E. Sympson of Houston, and Scott Sympson of San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren, Amy Leigh (Jeffrey) Wilson, Thomas J. (Kimberly) Cox Jr., Troy (Sara) Sympson and Sara Sympson; and five great-grandchildren, Natalie Wilson, Jarod Wilson, Sydney Cox, Madelyn Cox and Raegan Filipowicz. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown.
