• Jan. 16-Perry Tournament
Boardman girls won the Perry High School tournament with a total pin fall of 2,869. Seventeen girls teams participated in the tournament. Standouts for Boardman included Amanda VanFossen, who finished third overall with games of 205 and 210. Tiffany Dugan chipped in with a 202-397 series and Ciarra Moran added a 212 game. Boardman defeated Perry 2-1 in the best-of-three championship round.
• Jan. 18-Glen Oak at Park Centre Lanes, North Canton
Boardman boys defeated Glen Oak, 2895-2,793. The boys were led by Alec Higham with a 258-469 series, Jimmy Tancabel with 259, and Troy Wilson added a 242 game. Boardman’s record in the Federal League improved to 4-2.
Boardman’s girls defeated Glen Oak, 2,715-2,502. Ciarra Moran recorded the top score of the day with a 256-492 series. Angela Kaczowka contributed a 247 for the Lady Spartans who improved their Federal League record to 6-0.
• Jan. 21-Cardinal Mooney at Boardman Lanes
Boardman boys defeated Mooney, 2,764-2,203. The boys were led by Jake Stauffer who shot 267-511. Higham added a 232 game.
The Boardman girls defeated Mooney, 2,462-1,818. Van Fossan was high for the girls with a 224-439 set, while Moran had the top score with a 245.
• Jan. 24-Main Event Team Championships at Twinstar Lanes in Kent
The Boardman girls won with a team total of 3,859. Moran was the top female bowler at the tournament with scores of 235-234-203=672 series. Tiffany Dugan contributed with a 211 game.
The Boardman boys finished fifth, with a score of 4,017. Wilson had the high game of the day with a 286 game. Stauffer had a 617 series.
The concept of the Main Event Team Championships combined the boys and girls from each participating school. Boardman High finished second overall, behind Stow-Monroe Falls.
• Jan. 25-J.A. Garfield at Windham
Boardman boys defeated Garfield, 2,773-2,405. Stauffer had the top score with a 267-522 series. Higham shot 221-435, while Tancabel added a 256 game.
Boardman Lady Spartans defeated Garfield, 2,510-2,366. Moran had the top score with a 259 while Tiffany Terlecki had the high set of 224-438.
• Jan. 26-Canton McKinley at Boardman Lanes
Boardman boys defeated McKinley 2,778-2,701 to finish in a tie for first with Perry High School at 5-2. Wilson led the way with a 237-470 series, while Stauffer shot a 434 series.
The girls defeated Canton, 2,695-2,341 to finish the Federal League regular season undefeated. The girls were led by Terlecki with a 216-414 series.
Both the boys and girls will have the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Federal League Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 6.
