Boardman’s Jim Tancabel led the boys with a 612 series, followed by Robbie Childs with 599, and Troy Wilson with 599. The boys defeated Crestwood High School 2-0 in a best of three baker series to win the holiday event.
On Dec. 30, the Boardman girls won a three-way match between Boardman, Struthers and Fitch.
The boys placed second with 2,487 to Struthers' 2,554 while ousting Austintown Fitch, 2,483.
Struthers was led by Corey Bayus (246-473), and Joey DiLoreto (233-413). Boardman's Jake Stauffer led his team with a 256-473 series. Austintown's top scores were Cody McCullough (234-457) and Vince Viglio (225-424)
The girls took the series with 2,437, leaving Austintown Fitch in second with 2,354, and Struthers last with 2,090.
Boardman top scores included Ciarra Moran with 234-457, Tiffany Terlecki with 215-408 and Tiffany Dugan with 205. Fitch's Daria Harris shot 214-428, while Struthers was led by Rachel George with a 348 series.
Prior to the local matches, the teams competed in the Midway Tournament in Akron on Dec. 28.
The Boardman girls bowling team won the Midway Lanes Holiday Tournament with a final score of 3,982. The tournament consisted of a qualifying round of three regular games and five baker games. The top four boys and girls teams advanced to bowl ten more baker games. The girls were led by Dugan (224-618), Moran (223-609), Terlecki (216-604), and Angela Kaczowka (211).
The Boardman High School girls bowling team won the Holiday Tournament at Camelot Lanes last week. The team consists of, in back, Amanda Van Fossan, Rachel Dugan, Tiffany Terlecki, Ciarra Moran, Tiffany Dugan, Tiffany Heffron, in front right, Angela Kaczowka and Becca Babnic. The boys team also won their tournament.
