December 17, 2009
The Town Crier
Under the direction of coach Steve DiMaiolo, the Canfield Middle School wrestlers are off to a great start this season, winning the Canfield Challenge middle school tournament on Dec. 12. This is an annual event with 10 teams competing including Canfield. In this tournament, there are two pools each with five teams. The winner of each pool competes to claim the title as champion. The team is undefeated in four team matches in their pool. The grapplers went into the finals to face Girard and defeated them 51-42 to end up 5-0 for the day.

On an individual basis, the following young men were 5-0 for the day: Kyle Hido at 86 pounds; Stephen Daprile at 92 pounds; Korey Frost at 104 pounds; Cody DeRamo at 160 pounds; and Curtis Burns, heavyweight.
