Poland Players move Friday performance

This weekend, the Poland Players will present “Up the Down Stair Case” at the Poland Seminary High School Auditorium. The first performance will take place tonight at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Originally the Sunday performance was set for Friday at 7 p.m., but that show was moved to Sunday so as not to interfere with those who want to attend the Poland-Mooney football game at Fitch High School.

“We’re moving the Friday performance to Sunday and expect everyone who goes to the football game on Friday night to come to the show on Sunday,” said Candy Fogany, Poland Players advisor.

Fogany, who is in her ninth year with the Poland Players said the program has been at the high school since it was built.

“I was just lucky enough to inherit a very good program,” she said.

This month’s performance has a cast of 29 students and a total of 60 when the stage and set crews are added in. They began rehearsal and set design on Sept. 9 and have been working hard to get the parts down for a flawless performance. Fogany said the play is about a high school teacher and it has helped the students relate better, even with a high number of first timers.

“The challenge this year is the number of new students. Over half the cast have never been on a stage before,” Fogany said.

With the opening curtain just hours away, Fogany knows the students will again deliver a stellar performance. Tickets for the event will be available at the door for tonight, Saturday and Sunday’s performances.
